Knightās new works on canvas settle on a horizon between the known and the unknown. Animals and objects hover, held in muted limbos of pale grays, somber blues, and dusty yellows. Illumination and light are recurring motifs, breaking through the darkness of isolation and leading to moments of profound connection and recollection. Using a range of paint and mixed media, Knight builds her horizon lines. She stages animals and objects that mostly float in their surroundings, ungrounded, blurring the line between the concept of an object and the reality of it. Her characters and objects are light on the land and sky, weightless and untethered.
